The History of Southwest Michigan Wine

  • Dowagiac District Library 211 Commercial St. Dowagiac, MI 49047 USA (map)

Once a predominately fruit and grain growing region, southwestern Michigan has transformed to become known as a world class producer of fine wines. In this talk, Steve shares the early history of the region, experiences at his first jobs at Tabor Hill Winery and other wineries and how the area has grown from just a few wineries to nearly three dozen. He also ties this all into an assessment of the current state of the area’s wine industry based on his extensive relationships with area winemakers and growers.
